“It’s like I have a loaded gun in my mouth and my finger’s on the trigger, and I like the taste of the gunmetal.” robert downey jr. for what feels like forever fall out boy has been my therapy. i dont know what it was before that. but it was a part of everything i felt. i know i might not have smiled or talked at meet and greets from time to time. sometimes we had flown in at 5 am or i was sick or had something going on. sometimes i felt shy. sometimes just a bit off. most times i assume people dislike me when i meet them so i dont really talk a whole lot. but every single night on that stage is where i left everything that was twisted up inside my stomach. every single wish. everything. all of the big blackness poured out in sweat, words, screams. and i have to admit i let the fame bug crawl inside me and turn me into mr. hyde for a minute. but i was off of that a long time before anyone thinks i was- in fact all of “ioh” is about being off of it. unfortunately it is something like pandoras box and once you open it- it cant be shut again. and i wish it could more than anybody. if you are a fan of mine please dont vote for me in those stupid polls or anything that doesnt have to do with something i feel passionate about. even that being said. even pretty much going out every night thinking the whole front row of the audience hated me. it felt like going from hulk hogan to sid justice, or whatever his name was. but it still was therapy. and i felt a connection. i felt like a real human. im not the greatest one on one. actually i am probably one of the worst. i dont like to talk or at least i keep whatever i am thinking bottled up. i guess this is me saying thank you for giving that to me. i dont think i can say it enough. and i the reason for the robert downey jr. quote is ive read in interviews that he turned to physical activities and martial arts as a form of therapy. and i guess thats where i get my therapy now that fob is gone. i get it from running and yoga. no real reason to write this- except to say: you guys were real. you guys are real. pretty rare these days. |

Clandestine Blog Update
 Sorry for the absence. I got horrific food poisoning from a tuna roll, similar to the one you see above. I didn’t leave bed, or eat, for 2 days - and lost 8 pounds in those 48 hours. It was rather insane, considering I’ve eaten sushi at the place that poisoned me every week for the past year. Anyway, happy you guys dig the jacket! The Marauder Hoodie will not be available until the first few days of 2010 because of some production snags, and we wanted to make sure we made it as dope as humanly possible. So delays can be good, as long as it’s not a delay in serving your fresh tuna. |

Eighteen A.V. Club contributors are each given 100 points to disperse over no more than 15 albums that were released in 2009 (or in one case, late 2008, past last year’s deadline). No album can receive more than 15 points or less than one point from any given contributor. Then we tally, and you hopefully post your favorite albums of 2009 in the comments section. (And hopefully not by starting, “You guys are retarded,” because it’s much harder to take your selections seriously that way.) We mean it, too—we want to know what you loved this year as well. In a separate feature, you’ll find each contributor’s ballot, along with some commentary on favorite albums that didn’t make this list. 22. Fall Out Boy Folie À Deux Has the world finally gotten over Pete Wentz enough to actually hear Fall Out Boy? Because at the end of the decade, bashing the band’s bassist/lyricist/tabloid target seems passé. It’s time to accept Fall Out Boy as a skilled creator of exquisitely catchy, meticulously crafted pop. The band’s transformation from unexceptional emo-punk began on 2007’s Infinity On High, but Folie À Deux is Fall Out Boy’s most successful album yet. The opener, “Disloyal Order Of Water Buffaloes,” may be Fall Out Boy’s best song, but Folie À Deux had a focus its predecessors lacked. Where Infinity On High and 2005’s From Under The Cork Tree fade down the stretch, Folie stays strong until the closing track, “West Coast Smoker,” featuring a surprising cameo by Debbie Harry. (Other unexpected guest stars include Elvis Costello and Lil Wayne.) Folie À Deux may not be enough to silence all of the band’s vocal critics, but it could probably convert a few.
